March 9-12, 2006
Performing as percussionist in the premiere of a new quartet
by composer Glen Fittin, commissioned by choreographer
Donna Scro-Gentile and her company Freespace, to be presented
at Dancespace@St. Marks Church, 2nd Ave and 10th Street,
New York City. The production and performance of this
score is funded by the American Music Center.
April 20-22, 2006
Premiering a new score for choreographer Julia Ritter, titled "Pari Passu",
to be presented as part ot the Dance Plus semi annual concert at the New Theatre
on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ. This piece
will be scored for altered drumset, tabla and other hand drums, marimba, and
male and female vocals. Julia's title comes from the Latin for "step by
step".
Fall 2006:
Benford will premiere another new score for dance for chreographer Lea Kreutzer,
again for percussion and voice. The production of this score is funded by
the American Music Center, and will receive performances in both New Jersey
and New York.
Soon to be released:
the complete vocal and instrumental recording of the "Persephone" that
Benford produced for Jane Comfort. In this piece, 6 of the dancers sing. When
the piece tours, as if has done many times, the vocals are always live but
the instrumentals are recorded. This 38 minute score will be available soon
as a CD with the vocals recorded as well for a complete musical experience. |
